UK PM Cameron meets Queen after Brexit vote
British Prime Minister David Cameron met with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace on Friday (June 24) after he resigned over Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.
Cameron was at Buckingham Palace for the meeting, a spokesman for the Queen said.
The referendum result dealt the biggest blow to the European project of greater unity since World War Two.
Global financial markets plunged a referendum results showed a 52-48 percent victory for the campaign to leave a bloc Britain joined more than 40 years ago.
An emotional Cameron, who led the “Remain” campaign to defeat, losing the gamble he took when he called the referendum three years ago, said at a Downing Street news conference that he would leave office by October.
