Ukur Yatani takes over at Treasury as acting CS

Labour Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani on Wednesday officially took over the National Treasury and Planning docket in acting capacity.

In a tour of the offices on Thursday at Treasury building, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua introduced Yatani and the new Principal Secretary, Dr. Julius Muia to the ministry officials.

President Uhuru Kenyatta fired CS Henry Rotich and his PS Kamau Thugge on Wednesday a day after they were charged with abuse of office and corruption charges over the Ksh.19 billion Arror-Kimwarer dams scandal.

The Labour and Social Protection CS will now hold two dockets until further notice. Yatani was nominated as Labour CS in January last year in Cabinet changes.
