Undercover officers with military training trailing Raila Odinga – Orengo

The opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) now alleges that the life of opposition flag bearer, Raila Odinga, and his four co-principals are in danger.

Addressing the press in Nairobi, Siaya Senator James Orengo, alleges that eight Administration Police officers who are in a team of 60 and underwent a military training in Wajir are currently trailing Odinga in his campaigns.

“We also have information that prior to the release of the eight, a number of the trainees had from time-to-time made to shadow and trail the NASA presidential candidate Hon. Raila Odinga and other co-principals in their daily political activities,” said Orengo.

“Out in Wajir, these officers are using police vehicles with non-GK number plates that also keep being changed.”

While equating the 1992 ethnic clashes that pitted communities perceived to be supporting the Opposition against those that were seen to be sympathetic to KANU, NASA has further expressed fears that Jubilee is allegedly hatching a similar plan again with this suspicious training.

NASA further took to comparison the assassinations of J.M. Kariuki, Tom Mboya and Robert Ouko to the recent and what they termed as “widespread and consistent pattern of using elements of security agencies to carry out extra-judicial killings is a perennial menace in Kenya which was proven in the killing of a young and promising lawyer Luka Kimaru.”

The opposition coalition is now calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta to assure the country of the safety of Odinga and that of his co-principals.

“We put the president on notice that we will hold him solely responsible for any security lapses and challenges that affects NASA’s flag bearer.”

The coalition has further demanded an explanation from President Kenyatta, Interior Security Cabinet Secretary, Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery, and Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, on the allegations.
