University students arrested over alleged pornographic films

Eight people, among them university students, have been arrested in connection with the production of pornographic films and drug trafficking in Embu West.

The suspects were arrested in a room in Blue Valley Estate on the outskirts of Embu town in possession of 41 rolls and 21 grams of cannabis sativa, a laptop and camera.

Also nabbed were other electronic devices suspected to have been used for filming pornographic content.

Administration Police Officers who carried out the raid were acting on a tip-off of suspicious activity going on in the single room apartment at the said estate.

The prosecution has applied that the suspects be denied bail since their boarding area was unknown and they are likely to face more charges of pornographic filming.

Confirming the incident, Embu West Director of Criminal Investigation George Etiyang said investigations were still ongoing to establish the contents of the laptop and camera.

One of the suspects, Cornelius Nyaga, was released on a bond of Ksh.80,000 with surety of a similar amount while the other seven were released on a Ksh.50,000 bond with surety of similar amount.

Hearing of the case was set for August 6, 2018.
