UoN student commits suicide over lack of fees

A final year student at the University of Nairobi (UON) has committed suicide at their home in Dandora, Nairobi  over lack of funds to pay for his supplementary exams.

Confirming the incident, Buruburu OCPD Geoffrey Mayiek said that the student committed suicide after quarreling with his father over payment of supplementary exams he was scheduled to re-sit.

“The father of the young man came home and found that his son had hanged himself using a bed sheet, they had quarreled over payment of examination fees,” Mayiek said.

Mayiek said the 24 -year-old student’s body has been taken to the mortuary before a post-mortem.
