URP formally dissolves, joins Jubilee Party

The United Republican Party (URP) has adopted a decision to dissolve and merge with other political parties to form the Jubilee Party.

In a decision made during the party’s special National Delegates Conference (NDC) at the Kasarani Indoors Arena, the delegates adopted a resolution by the National Executive Council to merger with other affiliate parties and form Jubilee Party.

URP joins TNA, APK, GNU, New Ford Kenya, Ford People, Republican Congress Party of Kenya, UPK, UDF, Tip Tip, Saba Saba Asili and PNU who are have also agreed to merge and form one party.

Speaking during the conference, National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, said the decision to merge was the best for the party and would ensure a formidable force ahead of the next elections.

“After leaving ODM, many people viewed as committing political suicide but we became ever stronger,” he said.

“We found a reliable partner in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party, TNA, and were able to form the government.”

He said that the new Jubilee Party will go a long way in uniting the country adding that it is the desire of President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to ensure Kenya is united.

Duale delivered the speech on behalf of the party leader William Ruto who is out of the country on official duty.
