Use internet to fight crime, chiefs told

Chiefs and their assistants have been urged to boost security in their respective locations in Murang’a County.

During an ongoing three-day seminar at the Kenya Agricultural Research and Livestock Institute (KARLO) in Murang’a County, chiefs were sensitised on the importance of using the cyber space to protect their sources.

Community policing and Nyumba Kumi Initiative Chairman Mr Joseph Kaguthi emphasized that the seminar will help get a grade of chiefs who will access cyber space.

Kaguthi pointed out that the Nyumba Kumi initiative has failed to take a critical role in fighting organised crime in villages and estates, saying: “The long time absence of a regional coordinator in Central province has negatively affected the formation of Nyumba Kumi committees. They will be formed afresh,” he said.

Kaguthi also said that the ongoing ethnicity audit should be stopped to avoid dividing the country further, since the communities mentioned are not equally represented in the civil service.
