Varsity student among 15 arrested over exam malpractices

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has now confirmed that 15 people have been arrested for assisting in cheating during the ongoing K.C.S.E exams.

A university student from Busia and a businessman from Kericho who was selling fake exam papers are among those detained by police.

“The new kid on the block is that people have begun selling fake papers, we are warning the parents to be vigilant, the exams has not leaked and will not leak” CS Magoha said.

Some of those arrested have already been arraigned in court for various charges relating to examination malpractices.

Across the country, 8 candidates have been busted with mobile phones in the examination rooms with CS Magoha saying appropriate action has been taken against them.

A total of 15 phones have been confiscated so far and are in hands of law enforcement officers as forensic probe into their use continues.

In one incident, CS Magoha said, a university student in Busia sat at a remote centre doing the exams while liaising with a candidate who has smuggled a phone into the examination room.
