Victory proves Tanzanians’ confidence in us – CCM

Tanzania’s Chama Cha Maendeleo (CCM) says its victory in the just concluded Presidential Election is a show of confidence by the electorate in the ruling party.

Bumbuli Member of Parliament elect and CCM’s campaigns Manager January Makamba said that the party has again proved that it is in power because more and more people believe in its ideologies.
Makamba, who unsuccessfully contested for the party’s presidential flag bearer position, said Dr John Pombe Magufuli Joseph’s victory is an indication that CCM party is still intact.
The outspoken Makamba dismissed claims by the opposition coalition UKAWA that the process was marred with malpractices saying that the opposition did not have a clear agenda from the onset.
He, however, said the opposition’s spirited campaigns were a show of a maturing democracy and competitiveness in the country.
He now says the party will embark on a serious development agenda in order to win more confidence from the electorate.
Party Secretary General Abdraham Kinana echoed Makamba’s sentiments, saying the party was set for victory as its campaign machinery was well organised.
Kinana said that CCK, now – than ever before, is faced by an uphill task to prove to the electorate that their votes did not go to waste.
He assured Tanzanians that CCM will not relent to deliver on its campaign promises and will ensure the party manifesto is followed to the letter.
The two were speaking at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar Es Salaam where the National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced Dr John Pombe Magufuli Joseph as the winner of the 2015 General Election after garnering 8,882,935 against Chadema’s Edward Ngoyai Lowassa’s 6,072,848 votes.
