VIDEO: Celebrities pay tribute to the late Papa Wemba

Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has joined thousands of music fans across Africa to mourn the death of Congolese musician Papa Wemba who died moments after collapsing on stage while performing at the urban musical festival Anoumabo (Femua) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Others who paid tribute to the man whose music influenced artists across Africa was Angelique Kidjo, celebrated Cameroonian footballer Samuel Etoo and Koffi Olomide, a close friend to Papa Wemba whom he described as his role model and mentor.

Radio Citizen presenter Fred Obachi Machoka has also eulogized Wemba as a great artist who inspired his country and Africans at large.
