VIDEO: CJ Mutunga forms a 5-judge bench to hear Rawal’s retirement appeal

Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has invoked his administrative powers to fast track the hearing of an appeal filed at the supreme court by Deputy Chief Justice Kalpana Rawal contesting her retirement.

Mutunga moved the hearing of the case from June 24^th as ordered by Justice Njoki Ndung’u and fixed it for Thursday this week.

Rawal however swiftly moved to court to oppose Mutunga’s order on the grounds that it is unlawful.
