VIDEO: Senators to get Sh332M oversight cash

Senators are set to benefit from Sh332 million windfall, aimed at facilitating their oversight function in the counties.

The money, set aside in a supplementary budget that will be tabled in parliament this week, will see each elected senator get Sh7 million over the next three months.

This latest development has however triggered fury from governors, who claim senators will use the kitty for political mobilization.

Senators had proposed to be allocated Sh500 million to facilitate their audit of projects in their respective counties in March, April and May but got only Sh332 million. They have proposed a Sh1.2 billion allocation in the 2016/2017.
