VIDEO: Top cop accused of facilitating smuggling of goods from Tanzania

Controversy is brewing in Kajiado County where junior police officers are accusing the County Commissioner Harsama Kello and other senior officers of colluding with cartels to facilitate the smuggling into the country of contraband goods from neighbouring Tanzania.

According to the junior officers who spoke to Citizen TV, their seniors had ordered them to remove all road checks along the Namanga-Nairobi Highway, a situation that facilitates the illicit trade. The County Commissioner says he ordered the removal of the road checks because the police officers were allegedly using them to extort money from the motorists.
