- His 29-year-old wife of 8 months, Monica Mumbi, is still receiving treatment at Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital.
Residents of Jerusalem village in Kirinyaga County have lynched the mother to the man alleged to have mutilated his wife.
They stoned the 50-year-old woman to death after accusing her of hiding the man for the last two days.
Police however managed to arrest the suspect at Ngurubani Town and he is currently being held at Wang’uru Police Station.
His wife Monica Mumbi is still recuperating at Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital in Kirinyaga County.
Doctors at the hospital said the 29-year-old woman was in critical condition when she was brought in but is out of danger.
“Her private parts were bleeding and she had already lost a lot of blood,” Dr. Allan Kuyu said.
The man is suspected to have used a knife to cut his wife’s private parts in the middle of the night.
They were apparently involved in a scuffle before the incident occurred and neighbours near their Kirinyaga home heard the commotion.
In January this year, a man in Migori County allegedly chopped off his wife’s hand for staying at a funeral too late.
Two months later, a similar case was reported in Nakuru of a man who cut off the right arm of his ex-lover in a brutal attack.
