Voi residents receive title deeds
More than 25,000 residents of Kasigau and Buguta areas of Voi on Monday received title deeds from the government, a vital land ownership document they had waited for since independence.
Speaking when issuing the title deeds, Lands Cabinet Secretary Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi called upon the residents to assist the government in arresting fake land control board officers whose aim is to con them of their land.
“Take care of the title deeds you own as they are legit and do not allow fake people to mislead you,” urged Kaimenyi.
Taita Taveta County Senator Danson Mwazo said that tittle deeds will not be issued to people not residents of Taita Taveta County.
Deputy Governor Mary Kibuka lamented that the County government does not benefit from taxes from people who are mining in the area.
She added that plans are under way to make sure that in future they will start paying taxes.
