Voters file case to bar MP Sudi from contesting in August over academic papers

Three voters from Kapseret Constituency in Uasin Gishu County now want the court to prohibit the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from clearing their Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, to defend his seat.

The three voters say that Mr Sudi fraudulently obtained his academic papers.

In their case, the three argue that Mr Sudi forged his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificates.

The petitioners also want court to bar Sudi from contesting in the August 8 polls as the Jubilee Party candidate or as an independent candidate for the position of MP for Kapseret Constituency.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Jubilee Party and Highway Secondary School have been named as interested parties in the case.

Sudi was, however, cleared Thursday mid-morning by the IEBC to defend his seat.
