Waiguru Lauds First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Women’s Day

Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru today, Sunday during the International Women's Day celebrated First Lady Margaret Kenyatta's 'inspirational leadership'.

Ms Waiguru lauded the first lady's Beyond Zero campaign saying it has brought health services closer to women and children from Kibera to Marsabit.

Speaking after the First Lady's Half Marathon at Nyayo Stadium, Ms Waiguru said good health is a prerequisite for productivity, adding that the government's policy on gender is to empower women.

She added that the government aims to promote gender equality and empower women.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Sunday lead Kenyans in running the second edition of the First Lady's Half Marathon.

The First Lady is targeting to raise Sh600m for the ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign through the second edition marathon.

Last year’s 'First Lady’s Half Marathon' raised over Sh200m which went to the purchase of 21 mobile clinics which have been handed over to different counties.

'Beyond Zero' is a campaign which raises funds to increase access to better healthcare through the provision of mobile clinics to less fortunate Kenyans.
