Waiguru off the hook as court dismisses Karuas petition
Kerugoya High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking to nullify the election of Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.
In delivering his judgment, Justice Lucy Gitari termed the petition filed by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua as “hopeless, defective and incurable”.
Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Karua had filed a petition against the election of Jubilee Party candidate, Waiguru, on account that since the Supreme Court had nullified the August 8 presidential election, all the other elections were also not valid.
Karua further claimed that the election process on August 8 was not free, fair and credible and therefore should be declared null and void.
The former Gichugu MP still has a chance to appeal the ruling before the Court of Appeal.
