Waiguru out to block Rutos 2022 presidential bid, Moses Kuria claims

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has accused former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru of working to block William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

Kuria said that Waiguru’s move to link Deputy President William Ruto with NYS scandal is unfortunate, saying it was a desperate attempt to sink with everything beside her.

“You told us you were innocent. You convinced us you were a mere helpless victim. That everyone else was guilty except you. Even if that was true, what would explain the ignominy of your hairdresser carrying Ksh 100 Million in cash,” he said.

“You just have no idea how many of us you hurt. Some of us are paying the ultimate price for believing in your fake innocence,” he lamented.

Kuria claimed that Waiguru has assumed an unseemly role in denying Ruto a chance to be Kenya’s fifth president.

He warned the former Devolution CS against dragging Ruto’s name in the scandal, saying she should bear the responsibility for the apparent loss of Ksh1.8 million at the NYS.

The outrage within Jubilee camp has been sparked by Waiguru’s pronouncement at the Public Accounts Committee sitting on Thursday, linking DP Ruto’s personal assistant Farouk Kibet to the scandal.

Waiguru claimed that Kibet was in contact with Josephine Kabura, a key suspect in the loss of Ksh1.8 billion at the NYS.

Kabura is accused of fraudulently receiving payments totaling to Ksh1.67 billion that was a result of located budget.

In her defense, Kabura said that her business was to supply materials to NYS saying her decision to register 20 companies – all of which received tenders from NYS – was advised by the need to increase chances of winning tenders.

Waiguru has, however, defended her utterances saying anyone who has evidence against her should submit it before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) or PAC.
