Waiguru wants Kabura affidavit in NYS scandal investigations made public

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is once again demanding that findings on an affidavit linked to the scandal at the National Youth Service be released to the public.

A letter addressed to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission by her lawyer Mansur Issa cited investigations into the affidavit sworn by Josephine Kabura.

“We would be grateful to know the outcome of the investigations as the delay to bring this long outstanding matter to a close on the part of the Commission has cause their client ‘irreparable damage and lent credence to false allegations,” it reads.

The Kirinyaga Governor also revealed that this was her sixth letter to the EACC and her second to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

She wants to know ‘Who was behind Kabura lies; Who wrote the affidavit; who distributed it; and why? To whom did the Kabura money actually go? Any action being taken?’

Governor Waiguru says she believes there were more powerful people behind the NYS  scandal, and wants the EACC to umask those who took part directly or indirectly and drafted the Kabura affidavit.

Kabura, in her affidavit to the EACC in 2016, detailed how Waiguru allegedly helped her register several companies.

She further claimed that the then Devolution Cabinet Secretary  subsequently helped her secure dubious contracts at NYS.
