Waititu flees meeting as angry crowd charges at him

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was on Friday forced to prematurely dash out of a meeting in Kikuyu Town after an angry crowd charged at him.

Mr Waititu fled after he was shouted down for ordering county Assembly members to be returning officers in committee elections.

The meeting had been convened to elect representatives to the Alcoholic Drinks Control Committee.

Chanting anti-Waititu slogans, the crowd accused MCAs of bias, claiming they would favour their friends.

The irate residents warned that they would go to court to challenge election of new officials should MCAs be used to oversee the exercise.
