Waititu Loses Bid To Return To Office

High court judge Mumbi Ngugi who issued orders suspending Waititu’s appointment last week declined to review her decision.

Waititu had filed an urgent application through his lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui.

This comes after  justice Ngugi issued orders last Thursday stopping Waititu from taking office after a case questioning his integrity was filed by a businessman Benson Ritho.

Ritho moved to court opposing Waititu’s appointment to the post by President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying it was unconstitutional.

Mr. Ritho claims that Waititu lacks integrity and thus unfit to serve in a public office as his character is wanting, having previously been charged with various offences.

The judge instead today, Monday directed the lawyer to serve the businessman who filed the case against Waititu and appear in court on Wednesday for all parties to be heard.

Waititu was last week appointed by the cabinet secretary for environment and water Judy Wakhungu as chairman of Athi water services for a period of three years.
