Waititu, Nguyai In Kabete Parliamentary Race

Waititu, and his counterpart former Kikuyu Member of Parliament Lewis Nguyai, are hoping to secure the Jubilee ticket ahead of the by-elections.

Waititu, who lost the Nairobi Gubernatorial election to Dr. Evans Kidero of the Orange Democratic Movement, will battle it out with Mr. Nguyai, who was President Uhuru Kenyatta’s witness at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

EX STATE HOUSE EMPLOYEE

Others in the race include Wilson Kangethe Mburu, a former State House employee, James Githua, James Wanjohi, Kariuki Kavore, Peter Kariuki alias OCPD, Wanjiku Kinuthia, Charles Chege, Simon Githu Njogu, Kimani Kamami and Perminus Karanja.

The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the killing of area Member of Parliament George Muchai alongside three others by armed robbers in Nairobi on February 7th, 2015.

Mid February, detectives said Muchai, a member of the governing Jubilee coalition, was returning home after meeting family members in a restaurant when the attack took place.

Masked gunmen emerged and opened fire at them, killing all of them at once. They also stole a briefcase and two pistols from the bodyguards and several valuables.

So far, seven suspects have been arraigned in court in relation to the incident.
