Waititu’s wife released on Ksh.80,000 cash bail

The wife of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Susan Wangare was on Wednesday charged at the Nairobi City Hall court after being arrested for building with no requisite approvals.

The first lady was arrested by Nairobi City County officials together with 15 others for erecting an 8-storey building on Nairobi’s Moi Avenue without approval from city hall.

She was charged with illegal occupation of a building in Nairobi.

Wangare denied the charge and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.80,000. The case will be mentioned on September 6, 2018.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had ordered for her release on a Ksh.10,000 cash bail in a leaked phone conversation with Kiambu boss Waititu.

A recording alleged to be that of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu calling Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over the arrest of his wife surfaced soon after Wangare’s arrest.
