Wajir Leaders Decry “Discrimination”

The leaders led by Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden and his Wajir North counterpart Ibrahim Saney have claimed that over 10,000 Wajir County residents aged above 18 have not been issued with ID’s for the last 8 years.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings, the MPs issued a two-week ultimatum to Wajir County Commissioner Naftali Mung’athia to establish a second registration center in the county. 

This comes after youth in Wajir County welcomed Governor Ahmed Abdullahi’s promise that they will get Identity Cards.

The residents said it was unfortunate that despite finishing high school and applying for the IDs, they still experience difficulties in acquiring the essential document.
