Wajir women leaders to conduct door-to-door building bridges campaign

Wajir women leaders led by area First Lady Kheira Omar have resolved to spearhead a door-to-door campaign to rally support for the building bridges initiative in the county.

This comes after area Governor Mohamed Abdi launched the building bridges initiative, Wajir Chapter.

Speaking at a meeting on Thursday, the women leaders from all the six sub-counties in Wajir vowed to spearhead the unity movement by Governor Abdi in the grassroots level.

“Very soon we will establish an office and Form Women And youth groups in every sub county and Ward and come up with programs to support youth and women empowerment,” said the Wajir First Lady.

The building bridges initiative in the county is expected to narrow divisions and cool down tension from the last gubernatorial elections that resulted in a petition at the Supreme Court.

While launching the building bridges initiative, the governor said he would invite former Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, and other leaders for a ‘handshake.’

“I call on my predecessor Ahmed Abdullahi for a ‘handshake’, and I am ready to work with him so that we will be able to create prosperity in our county,” Governor Mohamed said.
