Wamalwa slams counties for using Ksh.75M on court disputes
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has expressed concerns that counties are wasting millions of public funds on litigation.
According to the CS, some counties are spending up to Ksh. 75million for each court case yet there are alternative ways to seek redress.
This has caused delay of crucial county projects and some have been abandoned altogether due to financial constraints, Mr. Wamalwa said during the opening of a workshop on dispute resolution in Mombasa on Friday.
The CS indicated that the Devolution ministry would draft alternative regulations for dealing with such issues so that intergovernmental disputes are settled amicably.
This he said this will improve relationships between the two arms of government, counties and other stakeholders.
Mr. Wamalwa reiterated the need for counties to stop wastage of public resources.
