Wambora urges parents to teach children how to save money

Embu County Governor Martin Wambora has urged parents to cultivate a saving culture in their children to help them during tough times.

Speaking during the annual celebration of the Diama Sacco children’s account at Kangaru Grounds in Embu County on Monday, the governor said that the culture of saving would teach children to deal with difficult financial times.

He said that parents are able to open bank accounts for their children to deposit money in, adding that children should be learn to make the deposits themselves to learn the saving culture.

“It is upon parents to see to it that children are able to learn how to start saving rather than using the money on other activities”, he said.

According to Wambora, the Sacco which initially had only 500 parents opening accounts for their children now has up to 4,000.
