WANTED: Police place Ksh.1M bounty on Mt. Elgon gang leader

The National Police Service has placed a Ksh.1 million bounty on a suspected leader of the gang behind the killings in Mt. Elgon.

This comes a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i declared a 90-day dawn-to-dusk curfew in the area as a way of dealing with the rampant insecurity.

Timothy Kiptanui Kitai has been identified by the police as being behind the recent string of robberies and murders in the troubled region.

Kitai, alias Cheparkach has been declared as “armed and dangerous” in a notice circulated by the National Police Service.

Dr. Matiang’i, flanked by Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Lands CS Farida Karoney, on Tuesday declared that the government would firmly deal with all criminals in the area.
