Wanted suspect dies after drinking changaa in Migori

Police in Migori County have launched investigations into the death of a middle-aged man who allegedly died after consuming excess illicit brew at Wuoth Ogik village in Suna East sub-county.

Migori Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said the body of the deceased identified as Onamu Ochago aged 40 years was found lying in a tree plantation a few hours after he was spotted in a chang’aa drinking den.

Mr. Nthenge said they are yet to establish the cause of the death, adding that the body had no visible injuries.

The county police boss said eye-witnesses reported that they had seen the deceased staggering out of the drinking den before he was later found dead.

Area chief Philip Kisiagro said the deceased is among the notorious cattle rustlers whom they had been pursuing.

The chief added that the deceased had been summoned by security officers over theft of two cows in the area last week.

The body has been moved to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
