Wards shortage threatening services at Muranga hospital

Maragua Sub-County Referral Hospital Officer in Charge of Medical Services, Dr. Stephen Ngigi, has decried acute shortage of Wards in the Hospital.

Speaking at the hospital on Wednesday, May 24, Dr. Ngigi said that the facility requires urgent expansion to accommodate in and out patients who seek medical services daily.

He stated that the hospital receives almost 500 patients per day and in a month they conduct almost 160 surgeries.

“We have been facing a problem of many patients that come to get medical services from the hospital and this has been a major problem to us,” said Ngigi.

He said that for patients to undergo surgery, pregnant women and other in patients require more Wards and appealed to both the National and County Governments to provide resources for the expansion of the hospital.

“We have 12 acres of land that can be utilized for these expansions and a master plan too for this purpose which can be actualized if resources are available,” Dr. Ngigi said.
