Water Shortage Hits Sigor, West Pokot

This is after water sources in the area dried up as a result of the current biting drought.

The most affected area is Nyang'aita village in Masol Ward where all the local rivers have dried up.

Most of the children learning in these schools have now been forced to fetch water for their livestock thus missing their classes.

The children are forced to walk for more than 20 kilometers to get access to water.

Reports show that about 50% of pupils at Nyang'aita Primary School are missing classes.

The school is currently having only 50 pupils attendance out of a total of 250, according to head teacher Pius Mtello.

Locals are now asking the County Government to drill more boreholes in the area.

According to the Chairman of Sigor constituency CDF committee, Samson Daimoi, more than 70% of the constituency is going without water.
