We are embarking on uniting Kenyans, says DP Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto has said that the Jubilee administration will now focus on uniting the country, building bridges across all Kenyan communities, and developing the nation.
Speaking shortly after being sworn-in for his second term at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, Mr. Ruto promised to support President Kenyatta in ensuring that “they build a four-and-half-year foundation for transformation of the country.”
“As people of Kenya we must turn together to resist ethnicity, to refuse division and to reject violence. What is important to us is the transformation of our country, the development of our nation. We know there will be no development if there is no peace,” said the DP.
He exuded confidence in this year’s election and said the Supreme Court nullifying the August 8 presidential poll was evident of “our steady, resilient democracy.”
“Today is the culmination of elections decided on two national formations as opposed to the past, we celebrate the fact that we have the capacity to decide our destiny, elect our leaders and choose our priorities as a nation,” added Mr. Ruto.
