We are ready to go it alone, ODM MP says

Nyatike Member of Parliament, Edick Omondi Anyanga, say that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is ready to go it alone in the 2017 polls should the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) affiliate parties; Wiper and Ford Kenya, bolt out.

Speaking in Nyatike on Wednesday, October 5, Anyanga said ODM will not relent in its move to push for party leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid either as CORD’s or ODM’s flag bearer.

The legislator said that ODM has the numbers and it’s able to go to the election alone if other parties within CORD opt not to support their candidates.

Anyanga said they value the support from other parties within CORD and outside the coalition and they would want to work together with them but on a condition that Odinga flies the flag in 2017.

He urged the three principals to sit down and agree on the way forward.

Meanwhile, on Migori politics, Anyanga said the gubernatorial post must go to Nyatike Constituency adding that it has the largest number of votes.

The legislator, whose wife, Anne Anyanga, is also vying for the Migori gubernatorial seat, urged ODM party to put in place structures that will give women more opportunities in leadership.
