We are still searching for the missing lion – KWS

The Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) now says that only one lion, out of the group that strayed out of the Nairobi National Park on Friday, is missing.

Speaking to Hot96 FM, Nairobi National Park senior warden Nelly Palmeris said after the search operation Friday, they realised that witnesses gave erroneous information about the number of missing lions.

Palmeris said one of the lions was taken back to the camp Friday evening; the other one cannot be accounted for.

The senior warden says the search operation for the missing lion, which they believe might be around the Lang’ata Barracks, continues.

On Friday, media reports indicated that KWS officers were tracking down six lions which had strayed from the Nairobi National Park.

According to Palmeris, the lions were spotted by witnesses – a sighting that caused panic along the Southern Bypass and in Langata estate.

KWS had appealed to the public to provide information that would assist the team of officers on the hunting mission.
