We leave IEBC to decide who prints ballot papers – Jubilee

Deputy President William Ruto now says that the Jubilee Party will not be participating in any meetings convened by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to deliberate on which company should be awarded the presidential ballot papers printing tender.

IEBC suffered a major blow after the High Court sitting in Nairobi cancelled the presidential election ballot papers printing tender awarded to Dubai-based firm, Al Ghurair Printing Company, with the court ordering that IEBC to identify a new supplier to print the ballot papers for the presidential vote.

According to the DP, who was speaking during a campaign rally in Olenekenyu, Narok County on Tuesday, July 11, Jubilee said it is not concerned about who will print the ballot papers as long as they are available on August 8, noting that the ruling coalition does not have the expertise of printing poll papers.

“We have no expertise in printing ballot papers. We leave the whole process of finding the company to print papers to IEBC. For us, Jubilee, we will be waiting for our competitors on August 8 and send them home,” said the DP.

Mr. Ruto, however, accused the opposition  for intimidating the electoral body, evidenced by the numerous court cases the opposition has filed against IEBC, to possibly postpone the elections using courts.

“We, Jubilee, want to tell NASA that Kenyans are ready to cast their votes on August 8, 2017 and no other date. They are presenting cases after cases before courts to sabotage elections.”

Additionally, President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon residents of Narok to vote for him come August, so as to continue with projects the  Jubilee administration has rolled out.

“We have an agenda for you the Maa Community as opposed to our competitors. Vote for me to continue with the work of building roads, and connecting people to electricity. We are also planning to introduce a free NHIF cover for pregnant mothers and new born babies,” said President Kenyatta.
