We need professionals to steer IEBC, not religious leaders Murkomen

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed calls by a section of politicians agitating for religious leaders to be picked as the commissioners of the new electoral IEBC.

Speaking at Chilchila secondary school during the homecoming ceremony of Kalenjin first Law Ph.D holder Dr Fancy Too, Murkomen said Jubilee had no plans of rigging next year’s elections, and therefore the party would go for professionals to oversee the elections.

He said there was need to restore faith and trust in the institution by selecting credible professionals who will serve as the new commissioners of the new IEBC who Kenyans must have faith in.

Murkomen, who was accompanied by area MP Jackson Rop, defended the “anri-party hopping” proposal which were contained in the electoral saying its intention was to bring sanity in the Kenyan politics.

“This is the reason why we had said there will be no party hopping 21 days to the party nomination,” said Murkomen

“The time has come for the Kenyan politicians to go to the party nominations with some principles so that even if they are defeated, they can still stick and support the party. Party hopping must come to a stop,” Murkomen asserted.
