We paid for our trip to The Hague – MP Linturi says

Igembe South Member of Parliament Mithika Linturi has dispelled reports that MPs used public funds to pay for their Hague trip.

Speaking from The Hague, Linturi said the legislators are wealthy and can cater for their own expenses.

“People should know that we are not poor. We can bankroll our trip to The Hague to support our friend Deputy President William Ruto.”

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi and Nyandarua Women representative Wanjiku Muhia said they are at The Hague in solidarity with Deputy President William Ruto who is attending trials at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Ruto was in court on Tuesday for the hearing of his “no case to answer” motion which he filed seeking to have the 2007/2008 post-election violence charges leveled against him terminated.

Prosecution lawyer Anthon Steynberg, however, said they have sufficient evidence to prove the DP held several meetings at his Sugoi home to plot the 2007/08 post poll skirmishes which left at least 1,300 people dead and over 600,000 others displaced.

The prosecution has urged the ICC Trial Judges to dismiss the application by Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang requesting the court to issue a no-case-to-answer ruling.
