We Shall Overcome the War on Terrorism, Says President

President Kenyatta said that the country will overcome challenges facing it including terrorism and corruption only of the citizenry will take part in the war.

“The challenges of terrorism and corruption must be fought for only if we are to succeed and have a secured future for our children’s children,” he said.

“If we are to end terrorism, we must agree to come together as a nation that has preached and practised religious tolerance to defeat those who preach intolerance.”

President Kenyatta further noted that “if we overcome, the future of this nation is not only guaranteed but secured.”

Garissa University massacre

The President, who was speaking during the 21st PCEA General Assembly in Nairobi, said his Government will not relent in its fight against criminal activities.

The Head of State was speaking less than two weeks after Al Shabaab linked militia attacked the Garissa University College killing 147 people and leaving over 100 others injured.

The attack, which is the worst to hit the country since the 1998 American Embassy bomb blast, left many uncertain of their security.

The government has since beefed up security and promised to recruit more police officers in order to help contain insecurity.
