We will face the Opposition with new party, DP Ruto says

Deputy President William Ruto has said that Jubilee is ready to face the Opposition with a new party, to be unveiled soon, in the 2017 General Election.

Speaking at Nyamasese and Kehancha grounds at Kuria West Constituency in Migori County on Saturday, Ruto however called on political leaders to focus on development rather than engaging in divisive politics.

“Our mission and vision as Jubilee is to unite the people of Kenya. We are not interested in politics that divide Kenyans on tribal, communities, or regional grounds,” said Ruto.

“Future politics will be based on how leaders have helped improve roads, health, and education among other development projects and not empty rhetoric.”

The debate on a new party for Jubilee coalition has been on for sometime now with leaders abandoning the ‘infant’ Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) just a few months after its formation.

Reports indicate that JAP was disbanded after it was clear that it could hold the forte since it was seen as a brainchild of members from one faction of the coalition.

Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto have come out to voice their support for the newly formed Jubilee Party as the vehicle they will use in the 2017 elections.

Infrastructural development

Ruto further stated that the government would continue to engage in infrastructural development and provision of affordable services to Kenyans adding that measures have been put in place to transform dairy sector across the country and create employment.

He stressed the need for residents in Kuria to uphold peace and harmonious relations among themselves and with their neighbors.

“I told you the last time I was here there is no link between stock theft and stock exchange. But I am happy that acts of lawlessness have greatly reduced,” Ruto said.

The deputy president urged leaders to be at the forefront in preaching peace and uniting all communities in the area.

He asked Kenyans to lead their leaders in areas they considered priority in development noting that it is their duty to say what projects they want implemented.

“As leaders we were elected to serve the people. We must avoid utterances that can create enmity and division among peace loving Kenyans,” said Ruto.

He stated that Kenya has only one government and urged resident of Nyanza to support the government in its development endeavours.

“This country has only one President, Uhuru Kenyatta and the Deputy President is the one with you here today. There is no other Government,” he stated.

The deputy president laid a foundation stone for the construction of Mabera Technical Training Institute before inspecting the ongoing construction work on the 67-kilometre Masara-Suna-Kehancha road. Ruto then proceeded to open the Kuria Medical Training College.

Other leaders present include Kuria West MP Mathias Roba, Migori Governor Okoth Obado, his Narok counterpart Samuel Tunai and former Kuria MP Shadrack Manga.
