We will not accept rigged elections in 2017 Raila Odinga

CORD leader Raila Odinga has warned the Jubilee government against any attempts to rig the 2017 elections.

Raila threatened to take unspecified action if the elections are rigged and called on CORD supporters to turn up in large numbers, “cast their vote and leave the rest” to them.

The ODM party leader called on CORD supporters to get IDs and voter’s cards in order to be able to vote in the next elections.

“You have to arm yourself with IDs and voter’s card in order to be able to make a decision in the 2017,” said Raila Odinga during a public rally at Matuu Sub-County in Machakos County on Sunday.

“We would like to assure you that we will not come back to tell you that votes have been stolen because that will not happen.”

Speaking at the same event, CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka said Kenyans will unite in 2017, like they did in 2002, and remove Jubilee from power.

“Kenyans from different parts of the country, including Rift Valley and Central regions, are tired of the increased cases of corruption in Jubilee government and are ready for a new government,” he said.

He also cautioned chiefs against withholding ID cards to prevent people from registering as voters saying nothing will stop CORD from ascending to power.

Kalonzo also stated that CORD principals would agree amongst themselves on who should be the coalition flag bearer in 2017 saying there will be no splits in the coalition.

“We will settle on one person in the coalition. Our focus is not on fighting for leadership within CORD but to get Jubilee out of power in 2017,” said Kalonzo.

Raila’s sentiments are a reemphasis of his previous allegations that the government is working with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to rig the 2017 elections.

CORD has claimed that officers of NYS have been deployed in certain parts of the country to carry out voter registration, allegations that Jubilee leaders have refuted.
