We will not renew your licenses, ERC warns transporters as fuel shortage persists

The Energy Regulatory Commission has threatened not to renew licenses for fuel transporters who took part in protests over the 16percent fuel tax.

ERC Managing Director Robert Pavel Oimeke said they will be forced to take action if the transporters do not resume normal operations.

The announcement comes barely a day after motorists began to experience fuel shortages across the country.

Petroleum PS Andrew Kamau had earlier warned dealers and transporters who blocked the road leading to the Konza Depot that their actions are tantamount to economic sabotage.
