We will settle all landless Kenyans CS Kaimenyi

Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi says the Government is continuing to take necessary measures to address perennial land issues that have bedeviled most parts of the country.

Speaking during the State House Lands Summit on Monday November 13th, Kaimenyi has said the Jubilee government is prioritizing registration of title deeds in efforts to settle thousands of landless Kenyans.

“All we want is to improve the livelihood of Kenyans through efficient and effective land administration,” said Kaimenyi.

The CS adds that the Ministry of Lands is currently registering title deeds countrywide, and the process of digitizing land registries now stands at 79 per cent, with the process set to be finalized by December.

Kaimenyi also announced that the Government has kicked off a Lands Ministry systems audit expected to be concluded by May next year.

“We have invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for systems audit because we are committed to improve land transactions. We want to identify the malpractices in our institution and do away with them,” added Kamenyi.

The State House Lands Summit seeks to address historical land injustices, graft in land acquisition and squatter issues.
