We’ll give rangers special anti-poaching equipment- Wakhungu
The Jubilee government will soon supply rangers with special machinery to fight poaching, Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor Judy Wakhungu has announced.
Speaking in Voi during the celebration of World Rangers Day, Prof. Wakhungu said that rangers needed better housing and other benefits so that they could perform their conservation duties with ease.
Despite the drop in tourism over the past few years, the Environment CS said that plans to review the rangers’ salaries and benefits are underway.
Lauding the rangers for protecting the country’s wildlife, Wakhungu said the government is committed to fighting poaching.
This was the first time World Rangers Day was celebrated in Taita Taveta County.
