Well wishers come to the aid of partially-blind couple in Kisii

A family from Kenyoro Village, Bomachoge Chache in Kisii county who have been living in squalor now have a reason to smile after Kenyans in their droves heeded to their call for help.

The plight of the family members who are partially blind was highlighted by Citizen TV on April 29 after reports that they were not receiving government stipends currently being given to families of modest means affected by the novel coronavirus.

Elkana Makori’s family has now received donations worth thousands of shillings from Kisii county stakeholders to cater for their basic needs.

Efforts to rehabilitate their derelict house are currently underway.

Kisii County contractors became the latest group to offer essentials to the family.

Led by Alfred Bosire , the group has promised to construct a new house for the Makori’s in a move that will change their lives for the better.

Makori has expressed his gratitude saying the TV crew who visited his family had opened a new chapter in their lives.

During an interview with Citizen TV, Makori said he had been sidelined by the area chief who had turned down his appeal for food.

The family said they were desperate for help as it had become harder to get food especially with the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
