West Pokot MPs rubbish Gideon Mois statement, back DP Ruto

Several leaders in West Pokot County have dismissed comments made by Kenya African National Union (KANU) Chairman Gideon Moi by saying his forays in the county are inconsequential.

The leaders, who included Governor Simon Kachapin , Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto and several Members of the County Assembly elected on KANU ticket, have told off  Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto for undermining Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at Tipet Primary School in Kapenguria constituency and at Kasei Secondary School in Kacheliba Constituency, the leaders made it clear that there is no leader in the Rift Valley who can match the DP’s record in development.

The leaders disassociated themselves from the ‘shenanigans’ of Gideon saying they will defend their seats in the Jubilee Alliance Party in 2017.

They said they will campaign for Jubilee, and KANU had no chance of getting any seat in the county.

On Friday, a section of KANU leaders spoke at a fundraising at Kapenguria criticizing Deputy President William Ruto saying that his leadership style is to blame for discord within Jubilee.

Led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, they blamed United Republican Party (URP) for using dictatorship in its leadership which they say infringes democracy of its members.

Senator Moi had urged the Pokot community to join hands with the rest of the Rift Valley residents in electing one of their own.

In his speech on Friday, West Pokot legislator John Lonyangapuo rubbished Deputy President William Ruto’s plans to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta once he completes two terms in 2022.

They had both refuted claims brought forward that the DP is a kingpin for the Kalenjin Community terming such views as outdated.
