Western stands firmly behind NASA, says Wetangula

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has laughed off claims that Jubilee Party has made serious inroads in Western Kenya, saying that the region still remains solidly behind the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The Bungoma Senator, who was speaking May 10 at a funeral in Sipala Village, said that the Jubilee administration has not initiated any tangible development projects in Western Kenya, terming the President Uhuru Kenyatta’s frequent visits to the region ‘a mere public relations exercise’.

“We have three main factories that have been the pillar of Western Kenya economy and that is Mumias Sugar Company, Nzoia Sugar Factory and Pan Paper but Jubilee has seen them crippling. Jubilee is telling you to vote them in so that they can revive the industries yet they have been in power and they did nothing. They have been in power and did nothing for this community,” said Mr. Wetangula.

However, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa dismissed the senator’s claims, defending the Jubilee administration of achieving milestone projects in just four years something previous ones could not.

“The president will be in Webuye on Sunday to revive the second phase of pan paper. He will also bring cash to Nzoia sugar factory and help the mill that is crippling down to stabilize again. Jubilee has done so much to Kenyans compared with previous regimes,” said the CS.
