Westgate Special: The Somali Factor

The terrorists who struck Westgate mall reportedly told their victims their mission was to avenge the Kenyan military invasion of Somalia and the alleged killing of Somalis by Kenyan forces. KDF presence in Somalia is also blamed for several other attacks on Kenyan soil by Al-Shabaab militia. The attack triggered the Usalama Watch Operation to rid the country of illegal foreigners. But the operation was also criticized for allegedly targeting Kenyan Somalis.
