Wetangula slams Uhuru over Ksh5bn Afya House scandal

CORD co-principal Moses Wetangula has lashed out at the Jubilee administration over the alleged Ksh5b scandal at Afya House.

While accusing President Kenyatta of keeping silent over the issue, the Ford Kenya party leader claimed that the lost funds meant for HIV/Aids and equipping hospitals had been squandered by top individuals at the Ministry of Health who should be held culpable.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta should be liable for the corruption scandal that has rocked his administration, he has failed Kenyans and instead of sacking the officers implicated in various graft scandals he is keeping silent over the same,” said Wetangula.

While insisting that the head of state and his deputy William Ruto should be held responsible for the ongoing corruption, Wetangula affirmed that Cord is against corruption and would continue fighting corruption to the bitter end.

Speaking at Mabanga Agricultural Training Centre during the Bukusu Council of Elders seminar, Wetangula accused the Jubilee administration of failing and running a corrupt and tribal government.

“CORD will show them the way once we take over the government in 2017,” said Wetangula.

Wetangula also called for the sacking of CS Cleopa Mailu and his PS Mr Nicholas Muraguri following the scam.

The Bungoma Senator also said that CORD was against the withdrawal of the Kenyan troops from Southern Sudan, saying it beats the logic behind the United Nations agreement.

“The UN agreements on Security Council should not be broken because of one officer who failed in discharging his duties, if somebody has failed the whole KDF should not be withdrawn,” said Wetangula.

The senate minority leader noted that if the president wants to withdraw the Kenyan soldiers, he should ask the National Parliament to pass a resolution so that they are called back.
