Wetangula to unveil young, dynamic Ford Kenya candidate for Kibra by-election

The Ford Kenya Party will next week announce its candidate for the Kibra by-election.

Party leader Moses Wetangula said the predecessor of the late Ken Okoth should carry on with the legacy he left behind.

“A dynamic, young, professional, Kibra-born, grassroots operator who will carry on with the dynamic legacy left by Hon Ken Okoth. Watch the space!!” Wetangula said on Twitter.

His announcement was however received with mix reactions as Kenyans online criticised the move.

A defiant Wetangula maintained that his party has all it takes to clinch the Kibra seat.

“Ford Kenya, the lion party, is no stranger to the great people of Kibra. My brother Rt Hon Raila Odinga went to parliament for the first time in 1993 on Ford Kenya party. We are on the brink of recreating history,” he said.

The seat fell vacant after Ken Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer.

Earlier, the Jubilee Party expressed interest in fielding a candidate but are yet to release the nomination list.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) has announced Eliud Owalo as their candidate.

The Kibra by-elections slated for November 7.
